Carla Harris
Managing Director
Morgan Stanley

Carla Harris is a Managing Director and heads the Emerging Manager Platform at Morgan Stanley Investment Management where she also provides investment advice to corporations, public pension plans, foundations and endowments. She formerly headed the equity capital markets effort for the consumer and retail industries and was responsible for Equity Private Placements. Ms. Harris has extensive industry experiences in the technology, media, retail, telecommunications, transportation, industrial and healthcare sectors.

For more than a decade, Ms. Harris was a senior member of the equity syndicate desk and executed such transactions as initial public offerings for UPS, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Ariba, Redback, the General Motors sub-IPO of Delphi Automotive and the $3.2 Billion common stock transaction for Immunex Corporation, one of the largest biotechnology common stock transaction in U.S. history. Ms. Harris was recently named to Fortune Magazine’s list of “The 50 Most Powerful Black Executives in Corporate America,” U. S. Bankers Top 25 Most Powerful Women in Non-Bank Finance (2009), Black Enterprise’s Top 75 Most Powerful Women in Business (2010), Black Enterprise Magazine’s “Top 50 African Americans on Wall Street,” Essence Magazine’s list of “The 50 Women Who are Shaping the World," Ebony’s list of “15 Corporate Women at the Top” and was named “Woman of the Year 2004” by the Harvard Black Men’s Forum.

Ms. Harris began her career with Morgan Stanley in the Mergers & Acquisitions department in 1987. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Carla received from Harvard Business School an MBA, Second Year Honors and an AB in economics from Harvard University, Magna Cum Laude. Ms. Harris has also received an Honorary Doctorate of Laws from Marymount Manhattan College. Carla Harris is actively involved in her community and heartily believes that “we are blessed so that we can be a blessing to someone else.” As a result, Ms. Harris has funded the Carla Harris Scholarship at Harvard University and at Bishop Kenny High School in Jacksonville, Florida.

She is the Chair of the Board of the Morgan Stanley Foundation and sits on the boards of the Food Bank for NYC, The Executive Leadership Council, The Toigo Foundation, Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO), A Better Chance, Inc.,
The Apollo Theatre Foundation, Mt. Sinai Hospital, Xavier University, and is an active member of the St. Charles Gospelites of the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and the Mark Howell Singers. Ms. Harris is also on the board of the Maya Angelou Research for Minority Health and was a member of the Board of Overseers’ Committee on University Resources, Harvard University. Ms. Harris is a member of the National Social Action Commission of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. She has received the Bert King Award from the Harvard Business School African American Alumni Association, the 2005 Women’s Professional Achievement Award from Harvard University, the Pierre Toussaint Medallion from the Office of Black Ministry of the Archdiocese of New York, the Women of Power Award given by the National Urban League, the Bill and Camille Cosby Award given by Associated Black Charities, the NASP New York’s Wall Street Hall of Fame Award, Blazing New Trails Award from the Robert A. Toigo Foundation and many other awards. In her other life, Ms. Harris a is a singer and has released her second CD, a gospel album entitled, “Joy Is Waiting,” which has been featured on BET Nightly News. Her first CD, entitled “Carla’s First Christmas,” was a bestseller on Amazon.com in New York and in record stores and was featured on the CBS Evening News with Dan Rather in his “American Dream” segment. She is also the author of the newly released book, Expect to Win (Hudson Press).

Amy Dorn Kopelan is the President and Founder of Bedlam Entertainment Inc. and Executive Producer of Producing Your Career. Her company produces: The Corporate State: A Women's CEO and Senior Management Summit; BUZZ: An Executive Women’s Think Tank in California and The Corporate State: Canada in Toronto. Bedlam Entertainment’s newest CEO summit will debut in Vancouver in 2012. The summits provide a forum for women senior leaders to examine the latest and most provocative global trends that will impact leadership and business over the next twenty-five years.

Ms Kopelan has over 20 years’ experience as a television executive and producer with Capital Cities/ABC. She co-authored
I Didn't See It Coming, a book that teaches professionals how to avoid being blindsided in business. As an author and industry expert, Amy presents and moderates programs at national conferences, interviews leading business innovators and teaches executives how to be “produced” for maximum impact.

Steven Eckhaus

Steven Eckhaus is a Partner of Katten, Muchin, Rosenman LLP where he chairs the Executive Employment Practice. Steve has negotiated over $5 billion in bankers’ pay, including several $100 million deals.

In litigation involving significant public policy issues, Steve established the legal basis for family responsibility protections (Matter of Trezza, 1998 U.S. Dist Lexis 20206 (S.D.N.Y.)). and was responsible for expanding the scope of protections for U.S. workers employed by foreign corporations (Morelli v. Cedel, 141 F.3d 39 (2d Cir. 1998)).

In each of the past five years, Steve has been recognized as a Super Lawyer in the field of Employment Law, and in May 2009 was named by Human Resource Executive as among the 100 Most Powerful Employment Lawyers in America. He was profiled in the Wall Street Journal in February 2011. Steve is on the Advisory Board of the University of California at Hastings Law School Center for WorkLife Law, the Cornell University Library Advisory Council and a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.
     


Erica Frontiero

Erica Frontiero is a Senior Vice President in Capital Markets at GE Capital. With over 10 years in debt sales and trading, Erica sells commercial loans raised for corporations and private equity clients, across a wide spectrum of industries to investors including, banks, hedge funds, pension funds and other financial institutions. She is also an executive advisor to the New York/New Jersey chapter of the Women’s Network at GE, which fosters women’s professional development, helping to attract and retain successful women across GE. Erica previously worked as an Account Executive at NBC Universal where she created and sold advertising and sponsorship campaigns across TV, digital media, and local events to Fortune 500 companies and advertising agencies nationwide. She began her professional career at Banc of America Securities in leveraged finance, in New York and London, structuring and raising debt capital for corporations and financial sponsor clients.

Raised in Gloucester, Massachusetts, Erica holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Wake Forest University and lives in New York City. She is an active volunteer with Dress For Success and is the President of Y.E.S! (Young Executives for Success), an executive fundraising and volunteer platform of Dress for Success and was featured in ForbesWoman magazine for her efforts. Erica is also one of the founding members of the creative advisory board for Orchid Worldwide, a boutique sales, marketing and partnership company, and is a member of the inaugural class of the Pipeline Fund Fellowship, which aims to increase the number of women angel investors and social entrepreneurs in the US.

     


Liz Hogan

Liz Hogan is Deputy Head of Global Markets (MARK) in the Americas, a position she has held since July 2009. Previously, she was co-head of the Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities Americas division.

Liz joined Société Générale in 1987 as a bilingual assistant with the Corporate Banking Group. She moved to the Money Market Group in 1989 and held numerous positions within the Treasury area including position manager for currency and USD funding, repo trader, and interest rate derivative trader. She was named Head of Treasury in 1996 and was appointed Deputy Head of Fixed Income & Money Markets in early 2007 and head of the group in July 2007.

Liz received a Master’s degree in Finance from Baruch College in NY in 1999 and an undergraduate degree in French in 1986 from Franklin and Marshall College, Lancaster, PA. She holds her Series 7, 63 and 24 securities licenses.
     


Ami Kaplan

Ami Kaplan is a Senior Partner at Deloitte & Touche who advises some of Deloitte’s largest and most complex global financial services clients on business, risk management and other financial and organizational challenges.

As a member of the Office of the Regional Managing Partner and Executive Committee, Ami leads Deloitte’s Northeast Marketplace activities. Ami serves as the Lead Client Services Partner and Advisory Partner to many of Deloitte’s Office of the CEO Strategic Clients. She is also a member of New York and New Jersey State Societies of CPA , AICPA, Financial Women’s Association, and serves as a Board Member of Junior Achievement New York and the New York Women’s Forum.

In previous positions with Deloitte, Ami has served as Deloitte’s National Managing Partner for Marketing and Business Development, Deputy Managing Partner of the Enterprise Risk Services Practice and founder and National Managing Partner of the Internal Audit Practice. Ami began her career in the financial services industry as an Audit Partner and has been with Deloitte & Touche for over 25 years. In addition, she was the first Partner-in-Charge of the Women's Initiative for the Tri-State Region and remains actively engaged in the Diversity and Inclusion and Women’s Initiative programs.

As an accomplished public speaker, Ami has addressed numerous businesses, professional and educational forums. She has been featured as the cover subject of Working Women Magazine and appeared on CNN.

 


Fran Tutone Kapner

Fran Tutone Kapner is Vice President and Relationship Sales Manager in J.P. Morgan’s Treasury Services Insurance and Healthcare Segment. Fran provides consultative treasury, cash management, trade, and credit card solutions to complex franchise, multinational insurance clients. Formerly, Fran was a Senior Client Coverage Officer for J.P. Morgan’s Worldwide Securities Services group managing full service global custody clients.

Fran has over twenty five years experience managing large institutional clients in the treasury solutions, asset servicing, global custody and investment manager outsourcing space. Prior to joining J.P. Morgan, Fran held several management positions at The Bank of New York. Her assignments included direct client management, consultative selling, strategic systems planning, vendor management, as well as leading relationship management teams. Fran has broad experience implementing complex solutions for franchise clients, including investment managers, insurance companies, pension plans, states and municipalities, and banks.

Fran is Co-President of the Women’s Bond Club and has served on its Board of Directors since 2008. Additionally, she acted as co-chair of the Club’s Membership and Corporate Outreach Committee. Fran is on the Steering Committee of the J.P. Morgan Treasury & Securities Services' Women's Interactive Network, and has been a past member of SIFMA’s Asset Management Forum. Fran is a cum laude graduate of Baruch College and lives in Montclair, New Jersey, with her husband Jerry.

     


Edward McGann

Edward McGann is a Managing Director of BNY Mellon Global Markets and Head of FX Fund Services Sales, North America, Global Markets.

BNY Mellon’s Currency Hedge Administration serves as the primary product offered to assist clients with administering their currency hedging programs. Developing a sales and business plan is Ed’s primary objective for the North America institutional marketplace.

Prior to joining Global Markets, Ed was the Head of Product Management for Financial Institutions and International Markets. In that capacity, Ed and his team were responsible to ensure BNY Mellon’s current suite of products and services meets the needs of these important client bases and to develop future product offerings for the asset servicing marketplace. His responsibilities also include strategic and financial planning, overseeing our capital plans related to product and technology development and strategic initiatives and vision to ensure clients' satisfaction with BNY Mellon.

Ed has over 25 years of experience in the banking and securities services industry. Prior to the merger of The Bank of New York Company, Inc. and Mellon Financial Corporation, Ed was the head of the U.S. Financial Institutions Relationship Management Division focused on mutual fund companies, investment managers, banks and insurance companies. Ed has also worked The Chase Manhattan Bank’s Global Investor Services and U.S. Trust Company of New York in relationship management roles and various management positions in Banking and Securities Services Operations.

Ed received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from The College of William and Mary and a Masters in Business Administration in Finance from New York University.

     


Geraldine Méhu

Geraldine Méhu has been with UBS Wealth Management for seven years and oversees a number of strategic initiatives for products and services that address cross-organizational opportunities, risks and revenue growth. Prior to this, she served as Head of Product Strategy, responsible for a team supporting all business groups within Wealth Management Solutions in positioning the firm’s investment, advice, and product capabilities, including product communications and third party manager relationships. Geraldine commenced her career at UBS as Head of Diversity for Wealth Management US and later transitioned to the business to establish the Private Wealth Management Desk. She managed a team of specialists who serviced Private Wealth Advisors with clients' assets of $10M and above. Prior to joining UBS, Geraldine served as an Associate Director at Barclays Capital. Previously, she spent 6 ½ years in politics as Deputy Press Secretary for former New Jersey Governor Christine Todd Whitman, among other roles. Geraldine is a recipient of the 2005 “40 Under Forty” Award, a 2005 and 2006 UBS Global Leadership Excellence (GLE) Participant, 2007 UBS Global Circle of Excellence Award, 2008 Top 100 under 50 by MBA Diversity Magazine, 2009 Women of Achievement Award from Marylawn and a 2010 Haitian Trailblazer Award Recipient. She is a board member of the Financial Women’s Association, Marylawn High School, and a member of the Executive Leadership Council (ELC). Geraldine is a graduate of Seton Hall University and holds certificates from Cornell University in Human Resources Studies from the School of Industrial and Labor Relations, as well as from the Securities Industry and Financial Markets from the Wharton School. She resides in South Orange with her husband and daughter.

     


Anne Miller
